The Marlin 70P, a semi-automatic .22 takedown/survival rifle by Marlin. This is the older wood stock model.

The Marlin Model 70P and Marlin Model 70PSS (also known as the "Papoose") is a semi-automatic take-down rifle chambered in .22 Long Rifle. It has been manufactured since 1984 in several variations, but only the stainless model Marlin 70PSS with black synthetic stock is still produced. Previously, other non-stainless models, and even versions with wood stocks were available.

The action of this gun is in the same family as the other Marlin 70 series models such as the Marlin 795 or the Marlin 7000. The only major difference is the 70P's ability to break down as a sort of survival-style rifle, similarly to the Ruger 10/22's "takedown" models. Like other rifles in the family, it features last shot bolt hold open.

The Papoose is extremely light at only 3.25 lbs, and also comes with a carrying case from the factory.
